Stove grease cleaning

If you are cooking by using a stove this problem is pretty much inevitable. There are going to be grease splattering around. So, what is the best method for grease cleaning for a stovetop? What can cut through the grease stains?

1. Gas stovetop: First remove the burner grates and allow them to soak inside hot soapy water in a sink. You can use a damp cloth for wiping out the stovetop or for removing the food particles and crumbs from it. Rinse this cloth in hot water together with a bit of dish soap. Go over the stovetop again by applying scrub this time for removing any residues. If you have baked-on or stubborn grease, develop a paste of 1 part vinegar and 2 parts baking soda and use it on the affected area. Allow it to sit there for ten to fifteen minutes and then scrub gently.

Wipe the grates clean by using a damp cloth and then you can use a soft scrub brush for cleaning off the leftover grime from the burner grates. In case of the more soiled grates, you may soak them within vinegar overnight or for several hours at least. You may consider placing them inside big food storage bags and add vinegar to them. Seal the bags shut. Now, you may dry all components by using a clean cloth or you may allow the components to dry out in the air. After this, replace the burner grates.

2. Electric coil stovetop: You can begin this procedure by removing the pots, pans, and other cookware from your stove and turn the burners high for five minutes. This will burn off the residue from burner coils. Turn the heat off and allow them to cool before you proceed. When the burner coils are not too soiled skip the heating step. When the burners are cool, remove and set them aside.

Remove the drip pans and allow them to soak within warm soapy water. You may use soft scrub brushes for eliminating the stuck food particles from the coils. Otherwise, you may use a soft damp cloth with soapy water. Keep in mind to never submerge the burner coils ever especially the connector prongs. If you have stubborn stains, use warm water with baking soda to create a paste. Apply it on the grime and allow it to sit there for some time. Then scrub gently to remove it by using a damp cloth.

Now, wipe the stovetop by using a soft microfiber cloth together with hot soapy water. Take due care to not drip the water on open sockets. Raise the stovetop for checking if there are any grease spills or splatters under the burner region. Wipe the spills by using the microfiber cloth. Get the drip pans and wash, rinse, and dry them to replace them. Attach the burner coils back on.
