The Veggie Way For Green Home Cleaning

The Veggie Way For Green Home CleaningBelieve it or not, you can use a wonderful source for green cleaning by using vegetables for a great home cleaning strategy.

Veggies are good for a great source of vitamins and minerals, but did you know you can use them to clean just about anything in the household? This is taking green cleaning to a whole new level. Let’s look at some of the strategies to do this.

First of all there’s the tried and true centuries old technique of using nothing more than good ol’ fashioned vinegar. Just one part vinegar and two parts of warm water will do the trick in a bowl or in a spray bottle. If you want a more melodic scent, you can add an essential oil to it. People have used this combination since who knows when because it works. Kills germs and doesn’t harm surfaces for light cleaning.

Vinegar comes to the rescue again, this time in combination with plain old baking soda for cleaning toilets! That’s right, just vinegar and baking soda. First, dump a full cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl and let it set for an hour. After that, just toss in a cup of white vinegar and let that sit for a few moments and then flush. It does the trick every time, won’t harm the bowl and is cheap.

The shower is another place to tackle. Here again, vinegar can be used with nothing more than green/safe dishwashing liquid. Just one part vinegar and this soap and you’ve go yourself an easy to use solution for cleaning those tiles.

Floors can be handled with again, the simple vinegar and water combination. This will work on most flooring surfaces but spot test just to make sure.

Big appliances like ovens can be tackled again with vinegar and baking soda. In this combination you make a paste, like mayonnaise out of baking soda and water. Leave the mixture to set overnight. Then just wipe it off the oven surface with a damp sponge or wet cloth. Next you use a spray bottle of vinegar on the tough spots, damp sponge and wet cloth, and you’re good to go.

Another big appliance is the dishwasher. Basically the filter is the thing that needs the cleaning so you’ll take the filter out and soak it in your natural dish soap. Next comes the hero of the day again, vinegar, and you take a cup of it and toss it in the dishwasher. You can add a light coat of baking soda first and let it set for a few hours beforehand and run the dishwasher. That’ll do the trick for sure.

So all in all, it’s easy to use tried and true things to clean the house that are affordable and effective.
